"Neue Verpflichtungen für den Frieden"

Berlin, 20. September 2017 – Anlässlich des Internationalen Tages des Friedens am 21. September fordert die Quäker-Hilfe Stiftung (QHS) gemeinsam mit dem Quaker United Nations Office (QUNO) und rund 130 weiteren Organisationen aus der Friedens- und Entwicklungsarbeit, an den UN-Zielen für Nachhaltige Entwicklung festzuhalten. Frieden und Sicherheit müssten als globale Themen betrachtet werden, die so unteilbar wie Menschenrechte seien, sagte Geschäftsführerin Manuela Kikillus.

 

„Wir möchten die letzten Tage des Wahlkampfs gerne nutzen, um auf die Verantwortung hinzuweisen, die die deutsche Bundesregierung für Frieden und Sicherheit in der Welt hat. Waffenexporte sind unserer festen Überzeugung nach der falsche Weg“, so Manuela Kikillus. Deutschland trage als drittgrößter Waffenexporteur der Welt maßgeblich Verantwortung für weltweit eskalierende Konflikte, hieß es weiter.

 

Die Quäker-Hilfe Stiftung stellte am Mittwoch gemeinsam mit 26 weiteren, in der internationalen Friedens- und Entwicklungsarbeit tätigen Organisationen eine gemeinsame Erklärung mit dem Titel „Neue Verpflichtungen für den Frieden“ vor. Darin werden Regierungen und zivilgesellschaftliche Akteure aufgerufen, die wichtige Rolle von Frieden und Sicherheit als Voraussetzung für erfolgreiche Entwicklung anzuerkennen und ihr Handeln daran auszurichten. Dabei komme es vor allem darauf an, Waffenhandel zu reduzieren, das globale Finanzsystem, weltweite Investitionstätigkeiten und staatliche Steuertarife gerecht zu gestalten und für ein Mindestmaß an internationaler Rechtssicherheit zu sorgen. „Wir müssen begreifen, dass die Globalisierung nicht nur eine wirtschaftliche, sondern eben auch eine sicherheitspolitische Dimension hat, wir müssen endlich den Frieden beginnen und die Kriege auf dieser Welt beenden“, sagte Kikillus in Berlin.

 

Die Erklärung „Neue Verpflichtungen für den Frieden“ wurde am heutigen Mittwoch von 27 in der internationalen Friedens- und Entwicklungsarbeit tätigen Organisationen veröffentlicht, darunter World Vision International, Institute for Economics and Peace, Pax Christi International und mehrere Quäker-Organisationen. In Deutschland wurden die Quäker vor allem durch ihr Engagement für die Zivilbevölkerung nach den beiden Weltkriegen bekannt, u.a. die so genannten „Quäkerspeisungen“ sowie medizinische Leistungen. 1947 erhielten sie dafür den Friedensnobelpreis.
